Where are we running??

Have you ever caught yourself constantly running somewhere? Running late, always running short of time? And objectively, there’s usually plenty of time, but it feels like you still have to run somewhere. But why are we rushing, running, and running late? Or rather, WHY?
Often, we rush NOT because there’s genuine danger or urgency. We run from facing ourselves and our real lives. We’re afraid to stop, to slow down, to look in the mirror—literally and metaphorically. Because in that place, we might see what we don’t want to see: age, fatigue, dissatisfaction, unfulfilled dreams, the wrong relationship, the wrong job, the wrong income level.
When we’re always busy and rushing, we avoid contact with reality. We create the illusion of movement to avoid facing the fact that something in our lives requires change. To stop means to see: I’m not living where I dream; I’m earning less than I want; I’m in a relationship that’s destroying me; I’m not allowing myself what I truly desire.
But it’s facing reality that gives us the chance to change. Until we acknowledge where we are now, nothing will move. First, we need to stop. Slow down. Take an honest look at ourselves and our lives. And only then will the energy to change emerge.
Anxiety often stems not from a lack of time, but from self-avoidance. Having the courage to face reality is the first step to reducing anxiety and making real change.
I decided to record a video on this topic and reflect on what drives us to rush and run so much. As always, thanks to my clients for the inspiration. It’s in sessions that I get to see something important about all of us.
