Psychotherapist online in Ukraine – how it works and who to approach
There are still a number of risks associated with online psychotherapy that seemed almost unheard of. Today, for millions of Ukrainians, there is one possible format – whether you have left the border, or live in a place without qualified specialists, or even if you simply can’t afford to walk to your office. It’s not normal.
In this article, I will learn about how online psychotherapy is governed, who is suitable, and who is not suitable, and how to gain respect when choosing a leader.
What is online psychotherapy?
Online psychotherapy is a full-fledged psychological assistance, which is provided through video calls, sometimes through audio calls or listings (including me – only in emergency situations of force majeure). Instead, there is nothing different about the work in the office – the same process, the same methods, the same depth.
The physical core is changing. You meet with a therapist not in the office, but where it is convenient for you – at home, in the country, or as a guest in an open space (not in the car or in a cafe).
Online psychotherapist in Ukraine today is not plan B. For wealthy clients, please select and confirm that the effectiveness of the online format can be compared with offline reception for Most requests.
Who is suitable for online consultation with a psychotherapist?
The online format is best suited for the following situations:
- If you live outside the border, or if you want to deal with a specialist from Ukraine
- When you are at the locality, it is important to know a qualified specialist with the required specialization
- You have a busy schedule – it doesn’t take an hour to get to the office and back
- you feel anxious or confused in the Duma about the special status of the zustrich – online lowers this barrier
- are undergoing therapy first and want to talk to someone you know and care about
- be in an area where there is no stable access to fakhivstvos
What questions do people fight most often?
- anxiety, panic attacks, fears of depression, apathy, feeling empty
- Legacies of war – acute stress reaction, PTSD
- vigor – at work, at work, in the role of father and mother
- tightness in the veins, separation, self-ness
- low self-esteem, lack of self-esteem
- joke to yourself – you’ll notice that you’re living a life that’s not your own
- emigration – how to export everything

How do I get my first online consultation?
Most people rely on the psychotherapist, because they don’t know what to look for. I’ll tell you in detail.
- You are canceling the application or you are writing to the messenger. Long and long questionnaires. It is enough to indicate the hour and briefly – why you want to get angry.
- We are at home about the hour and place of communication (the platform where we communicate is often Zoom, Whatsapp, Telegram). I will force you from afar.
- Persha zustrich – this is knowledge, it won’t finish. I hear you, I’ll ask you to understand your question. You can speak as long as you are ready. There is nothing worthwhile to be revealed.
- At the same time we discuss how things will collapse. After the first session, it becomes clear that it depends on which format and frequency of speech will be optimal.
The first consultation is a goiter. It’s just Rozmova.
How does a psychotherapist differ from a psychologist or psychiatrist?
This question arises for almost everyone seeking help for the first time. To answer this question, there’s a video on my YouTube channel:
An online psychotherapist is suitable for most needs people seek help with. If psychiatric support is needed during the process, a good therapist will be upfront about it and help with referrals.
Therapy methods – what is behind them?
Modern psychotherapy is not “lying on the couch and talking about mom.” There are dozens of scientifically based approaches. I work in the Gestalt approach. This method is humanistic and focuses on living life here and now. With the help of Gestalt therapy, you can learn to understand yourself, accept reality where you cannot change anything and influence reality where you can. Gestalt therapy helps you find your inner light and yourself. Your inner voice will become strong, and you will become more confident.
How to choose a psychotherapist in Ukraine?
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision and there is no “right” one. But there are a few guidelines:
- Education and specialization
Ask what education the specialist has and what method he studied. A good therapist will answer this calmly and transparently. You can learn more about my education in the MY EDUCATION section. - Experience with your request
A therapist who specializes in anxiety may be more effective at this than a general practitioner. You can find out what I specialize in in the TOPICS I WORK WITH section. - Personal Supervision and Training
A quality professional undergoes regular supervision – this is standard in the psychotherapy community. - Feeling safe in the first session
This is subjective, but important. If you are not comfortable after the first meeting, that is information. You have the right to change therapists. - Transparency in format and cost
A good specialist immediately explains: how much a session costs, how long the work usually takes, what happens if you need to miss an appointment.
How much does psychotherapy cost in Ukraine?
The cost of an online session depends on the specialist’s experience, working method, and session length. The approximate range is UAH 800–2,500 per session (50–80 minutes). Some specialists offer reduced rates for people affected by war or students. The first consultation with many therapists is free or at a reduced rate – this is an opportunity to get to know each other without financial risk.

Frequently asked questions.
- Is online therapy as effective as face-to-face therapy? Yes, for most conditions, studies show comparable effectiveness. The exception is severe psychotic conditions, where direct contact and, as a rule, medication are required.
- Is it safe to share personal information online?
Confidentiality is the foundation of therapeutic work, regardless of the format. Platforms with encryption (Zoom, Whatsapp) further protect your privacy. - How long does therapy last?
Depends on the request. Short-term work can last 10-20 sessions. Deep therapy – months or years. This is discussed at the beginning. - What if I feel worse after the session?
Sometimes there is a temporary feeling of heaviness after sessions – this is normal when you start to touch on painful topics. A good therapist will warn you about this and support you between sessions. - Can I stop at any moment?
Yes. You should not continue if your circumstances have changed or if something else is affecting it. The decision to continue or end the work is always yours. The main thing is that you warn the therapist that you no longer want or can continue.
