These are the feelings that people most often hide from both others and themselves: irritation, anger, rage, and fury. <\/p>\n\n<p>These are all feelings from the same branch. They differ from each other only in their intensity. <br \/>Irritation is the mildest, and anger is the strongest, most destructive.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why are we afraid of our own anger?<\/h2>\n\n<p>If we look at how we interact even with those closest to us\u2014family, partners, children\u2014we&#8217;ll notice that even where we could be honest, we often fail to express irritation or anger. Sometimes, we even fail to admit to ourselves, &#8220;I&#8217;m angry right now.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n<p>The reasons for this almost always go back to childhood, when we were forbidden to be angry. <br \/>When parents or caregivers couldn&#8217;t handle our emotions, became frightened, devalued, or punished us for them, the child then draws the following conclusion: <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Then the child concludes:<\/p>\n<cite>&#8220;Being angry is bad. If I&#8217;m angry, I&#8217;m bad.&#8221;<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>But anger is a basic emotion. It&#8217;s needed to defend boundaries, to stand up for oneself, to maintain energy and direction. It can&#8217;t be &#8220;turned off,&#8221; only hidden.  <br \/>And this is where the problem begins.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens if you don&#8217;t process your anger?<\/h2>\n\n<p>When we don&#8217;t notice irritation, it doesn&#8217;t go away. It builds up. And if we don&#8217;t notice it and deal with it in time, the emotion eventually seeks an outlet. This usually happens in two ways:   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"959\" height=\"621\" src=\"https:\/\/natashakohan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/angry.png\" alt=\"Forbidden feelings: irritation, anger, rage\" class=\"wp-image-101166378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/natashakohan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/angry.png 959w, https:\/\/natashakohan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/angry-300x194.png 300w, https:\/\/natashakohan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/angry-768x497.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 959px) 100vw, 959px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 1: Explosion outward<\/h3>\n\n<p>At first, there&#8217;s a slight irritation. You don&#8217;t notice it. <br \/>Then comes anger. It&#8217;s still &#8220;ugly,&#8221; so we hide it. <br \/>Next comes anger, and finally, fury.<br \/>And now you are in a state of affect: you scream, stamp your feet, say things that you later regret.<\/p>\n\n<p>Why?<br \/>Because you missed all the early signals.<br \/>They didn\u2019t notice the irritation, didn\u2019t give it a chance, didn\u2019t express it in words or actions.<br \/>And now it breaks out, destroying everything around.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option two: explosion inward<\/h3>\n\n<p>If you can\u2019t be angry \u201coutwardly,\u201d anger turns inward.<br \/>The body takes on what the psyche could not bear.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is how psychosomatic symptoms appear: headaches, tension, chronic fatigue, abdominal pain, sleep disturbances.<br \/>And then illnesses.<\/p>\n\n<p>Suppressed anger is not just an emotion, it is energy with no outlet.<br \/>She will look for where to \u201cexplode\u201d &#8211; if not outward, then within the body.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to deal with anger in a healthy way<\/h2>\n\n<p>The most important thing is to notice irritation as early as possible. And don&#8217;t ignore it. <\/p>\n\n<p>If you feel irritated, ask yourself:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s making me angry right now? What\u2019s wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>For example: the children didn&#8217;t wash the dishes again.<br \/>You get irritated.<br \/>You can pretend that everything is fine and build up anger.<br \/>Or can you calmly say:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cGuys, please wash the dishes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>If irritation is spoken out immediately, it is digested and goes away.<br \/>If you ignore it, it turns into anger, then into rage, and so on down the chain.<\/p>\n\n<p>The main thing is not to jump over the first signals.<br \/>Irritation is an invitation to pay attention, not to feel ashamed of yourself.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed begin to allow ourselves to notice anger,<br \/>we stop being afraid of our own emotions.<br \/>We begin to see that behind irritation there is often something important:<br \/>a violated boundary, fatigue, dissatisfaction, pain.<\/p>\n\n<p>And then anger becomes a navigator, not a destroyer.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instead of a conclusion<\/h2>\n\n<p>Anger is not what makes us \u201cbad.\u201d<br \/>She makes us alive.<\/p>\n\n<p>If we learn to notice irritation, acknowledge anger, and give it a healthy outlet,<br \/>we will improve not only ourselves but also those around us.<\/p>\n\n<p>Because being around a mature person who knows how to be angry is safe.<br \/>They won&#8217;t explode, they won&#8217;t suppress you, they won&#8217;t disappear.<br \/>They&#8217;ll
